The MIT School of Traffic Engineering isn't what it used to be Oct. 17th, 2011 @ 02:25 pm

The designer of the N10 Lot's new entrance gates must have a serious case of Anglophilia. For some reason, they want traffic to drive on the left side of the road. And this is only indicated by words painted on the roadway, not with any signs.

Do they really think drivers will notice that North America's "drive on the right side of the road" rule is reversed here, before it's too late?

Also, why?

Incorrect bus arrival info on Anna's sign Nov. 10th, 2010 @ 02:33 pm

Who maintains the scrolling red LED sign in the window of Anna's Taqueria which displays bus arrival information? It's totally wrong -- it just keeps repeating that the inbound #1 is arriving in 2 minutes, the outbound #1 in 6 minutes, and the Boston Daytime shuttle in 6 minutes (even during hours when that bus doesn't run).

If it can't display correct information, it should be unplugged.

Hey everyone,

I'm currently looking for MIT undergraduate or graduate students who work in the Stata Center and would be willing to participate in a short (~20 minute) phone interview.  I am a senior at Rutgers University in the art history department and I'm writing my honors thesis on the topic of laboratory architecture, specifically the relation between form and scientist interaction.  The information collected through the interviews will be used purely for academic purposes.

If you or someone you know is interested, please email me at katirwin@eden.rutgers.edu .

Thanks!

Each time i learn the economics and something about finance,i am always imagining that if i were you, these problems would be your daily tasks which you have to attend to.
Each time i meet my mathematical problems,i am always imagining that if i were you, mathematics would be a merit so these problems would be nothing difficult.
Each time i read my english notes,i am always imagining that if i were you, this language would have been freed of mechanical concerns.
Each time i have to accept my teachers' stereotypes,i am always imagining that if i were you,the intellectual freedom from pedantry would have been found!
So you are always in my heart and leads me along your glory to my destination!

MIT Office of the Arts needs your help Nov. 20th, 2009 @ 06:33 pm

"The MIT Office of the Arts is facing challenges as budget and staff cuts are becoming more prevalent in this economic climate. MIT is planning to permanently cut $70 million after permanently cutting $58 million last year (which resulted in a 6% permanent cut from our budgets). After elimination of 8 varsity teams, we are concerned about the long-term stability of extracurricular arts at MIT. Given this context, we request your help in assessing the value that the Office of the Arts has provided to you. The survey will only take 10-15 minutes of your time.

If possible, we ask that surveys be completed before midnight on Sunday, November 22nd, so that the responses may be used in an important committee meeting the following Tuesday. Thank you, Michele

any roboticists or cyberpunkish artists out there? Aug. 14th, 2009 @ 01:30 am

Hey,

My name is Genevieve, I'm organizing something called "Cyberpunk Cabaret Museum" (CCM) to happen in either NYC or NJ (the person who co-manages my band is still getting the venue details).

We'd like to get a whole bunch of people with futuristic or dreamscape art/sculpture/robots/light-arrays/whatever to show off their work there. From what I saw when I was at CPW some years ago, MIT is a good place to find awesome weird artistic inventor folks..

Parking Office advice Aug. 7th, 2009 @ 12:47 pm

I'm moving into on-campus graduate housing at the end of the month, and will be parking my car on-campus for the year. The parking office website is useless and I get different answers every time I call them, so I'm looking for some pointers.

Does anyone know when a 2009-2010 parking permit becomes valid (or when I will get that)? Also, what can I do in the period of time between when I move in and when my permit is valid? Are weekly passes available?
